First Aid is a very cheap, secondary profession that every character is able to learn. It's extremely helpful in the process of leveling up and has great advantages for content in the endgame. In this guide we will discuss the steps to level, the materials required, and the different kinds of bandages available for First Aid.
First Aid is among the three professions that are available to all players in TBC Classic. This means that it can be learned by any player without having to compete with other professions. It creates bandages that are able to be utilized as a Mana-free healing tool. These are especially useful for warriors and Rogues especially when they are levelling.
Raiding and PvP are just two instances where bandages are appropriate and should be used frequently. A bandage can be the difference between winning or losing in an Arena. In dungeons and raids they can help your healer save Mana or even save your life in an emergency.
Bandages can be used to heal. You can apply the bandage to heal yourself or a nearby ally. The channel will stop immediately if there's any injury caused by the person being treated. After healing with a bandage, you will receive a debuff called Recently Bandaged IconRecently Bandaged, that prevents the use of bandages for 60 minutes.
First Aid Training
Vanilla
For training in Apprentice and Journeyman First Aid, all you need to do is find an instructor in any major city. They will be able train you up to Expert.
From there, you'll need to locate a retailer who will offer you Expert First Aid under wraps. This vendor is Deneb Walker in Stromgarde Keep, Arathi Highlands. Balai Lok’Wein in Brackenwall Village in Dustwallow Marsh can do the same thing for the Horde. They also sell the recipes for the bandages necessary to continue leveling.
You will need to be able to complete a specific quest for your profession in order to become an Artisan. The chain can be started with either Alliance Trauma in Nissa Firestone, Ironforge, or Horde Trauma in Arnok in Orgrimmar. Then, Alliance players will report to Doctor Gustav VanHowzen at Theramore Isle in Dustwallow Marsh, and the Horde need to locate Doctor Gregory Victor at Hammerfall in Arathi Highlands.
Once at their respective doctors each faction will finish identical tasks during the Triage quest. Once the quest starts, three types of patient will spawn three types of patients: Injured, Very Injured, and Critically injured. To finish the quest fast and successfully, first focus your concentration on the Critically Injured patients. Then, concentrate your attention on the critically ill patients. In the final phase, focus on those who are injured severely and finally, you'll be required to treat the injured. The aim of this quest is to keep 15 patients alive before 6 die. It is okay for some of them to pass away. It will occur. If you stick to the progression of Critically injured followed by a Badly Injuredand then injured, it will improve your chances of successfully getting through the quest on your first attempt.
TBC
To be able to master, Master First Aid - Doctor In the House will be required once you have crossed into Outlands. Each faction will receive their copy from a specific Medic in Hellfire Peninsula. The Horde can buy their copies from Arsella at Falcon Watch, and the Alliance can purchase it from Burko in the Temple of Telhamat. These doctors will also sell you your next set bandage recipes. So make sure you get them too!
First aid training above 150
Before you go, you should learn the Silk Bandage recipe from your instructor!
The Expert First Aid Under Wraps book is used to help train first aid training beyond 150.
The book is distributed by Deneb Walker (Alliance) in Arathi Highlands, and Balai Lok'Wein (Horde) in Dustwallow Marsh. They also sell the next two bandage recipes, so be sure to purchase all three! You can also purchase the book from Auction House if you're low-level, rather than spending lots of time going to the vendor. If you're like me, also buy the book at the Auction House.
The following books are available to purchase:
Expert First Aid - Wrapped
Manual The Heavy Silk Bandage
Manual: Mageweave Bandage.
Click on the Expert First Aid - Under Wraps in your bag, then you can continue to make Silk Bandages. If you aren't familiar with the Silk Bandage recipe, you will need to visit your first aid trainer.
Training First Aid above 225
By completing the Triage quests, you can learn Artisan First Aid and train First Aid for over the course of 225.
When you have an First Aid skill of 225 and level 35, you're able to start with the Alliance Trauma / Horde Trauma quest (optional). These quests will take you to Triage/Triage in Dustwallow Marsh and Arathi Highlands.
It will require everything to skill at 289 or higher, and you'll need to learn several recipes from Doctor Gustaf VandHowzen / Dr Gregory Victor. So bring 100 pieces of Mageweave cloth, and 70 of Runecloth.
Gustaf VanHowzen, Doctor of the Year, in Dustwallow Marsh at Theramore Isle. He can be found inside the main store, where guards are trained outside. Enter the building and take one right, then take a left, and you'll be in the corner room. Doctor Gregory Victor is in Arathi Highlands near Hammerfall in the village and take a left. After the entry point, he's inside the building to his left.
How to complete the Triage Quest
Here are some helpful tips to help you to make your search more enjoyable
Undead patient Critically injured Critically injured patients are likely to die after you heal two other patients.
Patient who is trolled injured Patients with injuries will die after you heal 4 patients.
Orc patient - Injured Patients who are injured have a long time before they die.
This will help you decide which of your ailments you'd like to heal first. If you begin with the left side and keep going through them, they usually won't be dead until you've completed your entire round. I did it this way and was able to complete it on the first try.
To activate the health bar above the head of patients to allow to make it easy to monitor, press CTRL + V. Or tick the "Show NPC Names" option from Interface Options.
To see the best of the space, change your camera to third-person.
Use the triage bandages your doctor provided you with in the bar of action. Do not use the ones you have on your own. It can be bind to any key.
Place yourself in the middle of the room.
Left-click on another patient to select them. When your current healing is completed, click the bandages from your action bar and the pre-selected heal will begin to heal. This will save you time.
Once you saved 15 times, complete the quest immediately. The quest was not a success for me as I waited and 6 patients passed away. The mission was considered 'complete' but it was 'failed.
